Sparky
Sparky was relinquished to Brandywine Gordon Setter Club Rescue on January 9, 2010. Sparky is a 6 1/2 year old male Gordon Setter. He originated from a pet store and was with his owners his whole life until now. Unfortunantly, his owners had to relocate into an apartment and knew that Sparky wasn't going to do well there. They were careful in researching options for Sparky, knowing he would need a home where he could have enough exercise. We are happy to help him find his new home.
Since his arrival, Sparky has enjoyed running in the back paddock and meeting the other dogs. He has been around my older English Setter boy and our Cavalier and has been a perfect gentleman. Although, not crated at home, he has adapted to that ritual here. He seems to be a very sensible and sweet boy. He will go to the vet this week and get updated on all his medical needs.
We are looking for a home for Sparky that would have a fenced in yard. We have been advised that he will jump fences so he may need supervision when let outside intially. He likes to ride in cars, is housebroken, used to children, comes when calls and good with other dogs. He grew up with an intact chocolate lab. He has been walked on a lead but needs a refresher course as he was mostly allowed in his yard outside. He is vocal when playing and wrestling with family members. He was accustomed to sleeping in his owner's bed at night and would stay home alone free in the house.

UPDATE 1/28/10
Sparky left Brandywine Rescue to be with his new family in Arlington, VA. We are happy to report that he did well for his 3 1/2 hour drive to his new home and is settling in. We hope that Sparky enjoys his 8 foot fenced yard as well as meeting his new friends in the dog park across the street. Hoping to have new updates and photos soon!!!
